Tallit Found in Toronto with VA Contents in Bag

Can You Help Return this Heirloom to its Owner?

Here in Herndon, VA we received a message from a gentleman who recently (late May or early June, 2023) found this red tallit bag under a park bench in Toronto. Inside the bag, aside from a well-loved tallit, are:

  • 2006 Literature from Congregation Beth Emeth in Herndon, VA, USA, (a Conservative congregation):
    • Shabbat service programs from October 13-14, 2006 (Shemini Atzeret) and November 3-4. 2006 (Lekh Lecha)
    • The annual Yizkor Book dated 5767 (2006-7). The Yizkor book is distributed at Yom Kippur but also used for the 3 other Yizkor services, including Shemini Atzeret.
    • "Reserved for usher" document, identical to what is still in use, ONLY on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Usually only congregation members sign up to be ushers.
    • Informational brochures about various Jewish topics -- a series we still have in a lobby.
  • 2007 Event flyers from Congregation Sha'are Shalom in Leesburg, VA, USA for a Purim Shpiel and Purim Carnival in March 2007. Sha'are Shalom is a Conservative congregation.
  • Flyers for fall 2005 events from the Conservative teen youth group at Beth Tikvah Synagogue in Toronto, Ontaria, Canada.

If you or a relative might possibly have left this tallit in a park in Toronto, please contact office@bethemeth.org and we'll get you in touch with the finder!

Ideas for searching also welcome. And feel free to share our Facebook post to spread the word!
