Abby Goldman, Educator

Morah Abby received her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in Special Education from George Mason University. She has been working with young children for 20 years in various settings; before she came to BEECC, she taught Head Start with Fairfax County Public Schools. She has two children, both of whom are in elementary school. She loves to spend her free time outdoors but also cuddling on the couch watching a movie with her family. Abby has a passion for teaching and guiding children in their exploration of the world around them. She believes all children are capable of amazing things and can't wait to see what amazing things your children will do!

Becky Frank, Educator

Morah Becky grew up in Miami, but fell in love with Virginia (and her husband) as an undergraduate at UVA, and never left. She adores working with children; before joining the BEECC team in 2019, she was an elementary school substitute with Fairfax County Public Schools for eight years. Becky was a stay-at-home parent for another eight years before that.

Before having kids, she worked with an environmental non-profit, where she helped teach the public (including children) about the importance of protecting our natural resources. She loves hugging trees! In her spare time, Becky loves reading, traveling with her family (when possible), watching old movies, playing board games, embarrassing her children by breaking out into spontaneous singing, and leading her daughter's Girl Scout troop. Both of her kids, now in high school and college, started their education at BEECC with a warm, happy, and enriching experience. Becky is thrilled to be teaching here in person again!

Jenn Johnson, Educator

Morah Jenn is originally from New England and moved to Virginia over 25 years ago. She is married and has two daughters. Jenn has been an early childhood educator for the last 10 years. In her spare time, she likes to take nature walks with her family, travel to New England, knit, and read.

Jenny Cho, Educator

Morah Jenny (Yoonmin) Cho came to the United States from Korea when she was 10 years old. She has studied piano since she was six; her mom's big dream for Jenny when they came to the US was for Jenny to be a pianist. Jenny attended Manhattan Music pre-college when she was in middle school and she attended LaGuardia Music and Performing Arts High school in New York City. She graduated from Caldwell University with a major in music and a minor in early childhood education. Before coming to Fairfax three years ago, she lived in New Jersey for over 30 years.

Jenny has been working in a Korean language school for nine years and has been teaching piano lessons for more than 20 years. She loves being a teacher, and loves being both a piano and an early childhood teacher for two-year-olds. Jenny has two children of her own. This upcoming year will be her second at BEECC and she is excited and looking forward to meeting new students. Jenny loves working with children to provide them with love, care, and knowledge. She learns so much from children, and knows it is important to communicate with them to encourage their creative thinking skills.

Jerusha "Ru" French, Educator

Morah Ru has a deep love and passion for teaching and caring for children; she has been working in early childhood education for over five years. When she is not studying for college, Jerusha loves to read and spend time with her many siblings. Growing up in a large family helped spark Jerusha's passion for teachign and learning about the development of our littlest learners. She hopes to further her career in this field and grow as an educator.

Jocelyn Dorfman, MEd., Director
Jocelyn@bethemeth.org

Morah Jocelyn is a passionate early childhood educator with both classroom and administrative experience. She is dedicated to providing children with meaningful and joyful experiences, meeting children where they are, and partnering with families to establish a life-long love of learning.

A native Virginian, Jocelyn grew up in Arlington before attending Brandeis University for her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women’s & Gender studies. She also holds a Master of Education in Counseling (Boston University) and a Master of Science in Psychology (University of North Texas).

Jocelyn came to CBE from Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, D.C. where she taught two- and three-year-olds, coordinated engagement programs for families with young children, and oversaw school operations for both Gan HaYeled Preschool and Adas’s religious school. Before Adas, she taught at the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia's Early Childhood Learning Center. Jocelyn's favorite activities with children are reading books, building, and anything that involves getting messy. When not at work, you can usually find Jocelyn at Nationals Park supporting her baseball team or exploring the Smithsonian museums (and zoo) in DC.

Laurie Diamond, Educator

Morah Laurie earned her Bachelor of Science in communications and early childhood education from James Madison University and her Master in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She taught third grade for several years before shifting to the elementary school library, where she helped students loose themselves and find themselves in books for many years.

More recently, Laurie has discovered the amazing world of preschool, where she still loves to share books and enjoys learning and discovering with the readers and leaders of tomorrow. When she's not at BEECC, she might be watching her daughter play softball or her son play baseball, spending time with her husband, or enjoying a moment in nature. Every now and then, she finds time to lose herself in a good book!

Marcy Mandel, Educator

Morah Marcy first discovered her love of teaching when she was in high school working as a Madricha for CBE's religious school. She later attended George Mason University while continuing to work as the religious school's Special Education Resource Teacher. Marcy also worked as the Assistant Director for BEECC's Summer Adventures. After receiving her B.A in Early Childhood Special Education with a minor in Jewish Studies, Marcy returned home to work as an Assistant Teacher for BEECC. She also worked at the Pozez JCC in Northern Virginia and the Goddard School.

Marcy is thrilled to return to CBE and BEECC; her time here began her path as an educator. Marcy is a life-long learner as she continuously works towards becoming the most supportive and compassionate teacher for each child she has the privilege to work with. Marcy believes that children are naturally curious, inquisitive, and eager to learn about the world around them; it is each educator's responsibility to foster child development through fun learning experiences and a warm environment. In her spare time, Marcy loves to paint, crochet, and cuddle with her cat.

Meghan Keyes, Educator

Morah Meghan has been volunteering and working with children for over ten years. Over those years, she has worked in a few different childcare and educational environments, including a youth program at a community center, a volunteer counselor at an outpatient facility for teens, and most recently as BEECC's Summer Adventures Senior Coordination Counselor.

Meghan discovered her passion for teaching from watching her mom put all her heart into teaching students as well as Meghan's and her sister's education experiences. Meghan received her degree in Early Childhood Development from Purdue University Global. She is passionate about supporting children in their social and educational development.

Meghan loves seeing children grow, learn, and develop different skills throughout the course of a school year. This year is her fourth at BEECC; she is a big believer in our Reggio-inspired approach and believes children are capable of anything they put their minds to. In her personal time, Megan loves to snuggle her bearded dragon Mulder and spend time with her niece and nephew, and plan her next trip to Disney, Meghan's favorite place!

Renee Williams, Administrator
Renee@bethemeth.org

Morah Renee has been with BEECC for 17+ years and loves every minute of it because it is impossible to have a bad day when you are surrounded by smiling, happy children!  Originally from a small town in Western Maryland, she now lives in Sterling, VA, with her husband, Greg.  They have two adult children, two grandsons and a grand-puppy.  When she’s not at BEECC, most of her free time is spent playing with her grandchildren.

Sarah M., Educator

Morah Sarah grew up in and spent many years in Virginia Beach; she recently moved to Northern Virginia with her three-year-old son, Riley. Sarah's passion for working with children started when she volunteered at a Deaf Science Camp at Jefferson Labs in Newport News, and has only grown since she committed to a career in early childhood education. In her free time, Sarah loves to read, draw, and take nature walks with her son.
