After 17 years as CBE’s spiritual and
religious leader, Rabbi Steve Glazer will be retiring in June of 2013. As
we offer Rabbi Steve our sincere gratitude for his leadership, and best
wishes for fulfillment in his upcoming pursuits, we also begin our efforts
to find the rabbi who will guide CBE’s future.
The success of this search
will depend considerably on meaningful participation from all of us whether
that be staying apprised of the latest news through this website or from The
Shofar, or volunteering to be a part of the one of the many committees
dedicated to CBE's transition to a new rabbi. In particular, there are
several opportunities to get involved with planning for Rabbi Steve's
farewell weekend as well as working with the new rabbi, once selected, to
become acclimated to our community. Please learn
how to get more involved, and, at any time, you are welcome to contact
me directly at

May 20: It is with great pleasure we announce that at
the Annual Meeting on May 19th the congregation voted by an overwhelming
majority to approve Rabbi Michelle L. Goldsmith as the next rabbi of
Congregation Beth Emeth. Rabbi Goldsmith’s contract has been negotiated and
will be signed this week. Beginning July 1, when she officially joins our
community, Rabbi Goldsmith will take the pulpit as Beth Emeth’s 3rd
full-time rabbi in our synagogue’s 34-year history.
We look forward to welcoming Rabbi Goldsmith, her husband Jeff, and their
children, Aviella (16), Rafaella (16), Jonah (10), and Shiah (6) as part of
the Beth Emeth family. When we spoke with her after the meeting to inform
her about the congregational vote, she was elated. The Goldsmiths are eager
to start their new home here at Beth Emeth. A special committee is being
assembled to ensure that Rabbi Goldsmith and her family have a smooth
transition to Beth Emeth and to Northern Virginia.
Rabbi Goldsmith's bio can be found here.
