abbreviated version of Rabbi Steve’s popular GWU course, consisting
of a survey of Jewish religious life, focusing on the various forms
of American Judaism (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform,
Reconstructionist, etc.) as they have developed and continue to
evolve. Emphasis will be placed on the issues and challenges facing
contemporary Judaism, including such “post-60’s Judaisms” as Jewish
Renewal, Humanistic Judaism, etc.

The Worship Service: History, Structure & Content

Services are an
enigma to many of us, as they seem to be nothing more than a multitude
of prayers strung together. It might come as a surprise to learn that
each service has a definite structure and flow. In this 3-part series,
we shall examine the History, Structure and Content of the service.
Join us and you’ll feel much more comfortable and “in control” during
services.

Torah Study Group
One Saturday a Month, Following Morning Services
The Beth Emeth
Torah Study group meets at least once a month after Saturday kiddush
to study and discuss a prepared text on the parasha. The format is
informal, and drop-ins are welcome. Look for us where the kiddush is
held (social hall) or in the library. Exact dates for each month
will be published in the Beth Emeth calendar, weekly announcements,
and last minute updates on the
cbe-va-tora@yahoogroups.com email list (please consider signing
up).
